Being an avid reader of all kinds of romance books, there are a few sub-genres which are my favorite and one of them is second chance romance books. Whenever I long for a good heartwrenching yet heartwarming romance story, this is the genre I seek. The idea of two people who come together after years and years of separation gives me butterflies, especially when they see each other again and have that big talk about their past.
These stories about the endless love which suffers and withstands the test of time be it because of misunderstandings or one-sided love are a must-read for romance lovers. In this post, I list 5, second chance romance books which are my top favorites and are based on themes like unrequited love, inconvenient marriage, childhood lovers, missed opportunities and other major misunderstandings between couples.
All the books have a happy ending (I just hate tragic ends, they depress me😣) and I have mentioned a few details about them so you can pick your read. Also, in the end, I have added a poll to know what themes you like, so maybe next time I can write a post around it. Cheers!
Here we go:
“If you’re still willing to take me there,” she said, swallowing almost painfully, “I thought I’d like to see paradise.”
SUMMARY: Corporate raider Matthew Farrell had come a long way from the poor, scruffy kid of Indiana’s steel mills. A long way from the country club where feeling like an outsider, he had dared to fall in love with a beautiful blonde named Meredith Bancroft, and known a once-in-a-lifetime passion and betrayal that still haunted his memory…more…
REVIEW: This book will meet all the requirements for a great second chance romance read. Judith McNaught tells this enchanting tale of Matt & Meredith who get separated due to some major misunderstandings and this enduring love of theirs will make you so emotional. In short, its a poor boy, rich girl kinda story but with lots of drama and angst.
Betrayal • Suspense • Bad Boy • Childhood Sweethearts
“Right back to him. Always to him.”

REVIEW: This friend to lovers story of two totally opposite people is told in flashbacks where you can feel all the feels. I loved how they meet again after so much heartache and I tell you it is not a cliche story, so this is highly recommended for a second chance reader.
First Love • Emotional • Love Triangle
“Get the hell out,” he said before turning to face her. Bronwyn tried not to flinch when she saw his face. There was nothing there – no anger, no regret, just a blank mask. She didn’t know this man at all. “Go now.”
SUMMARY: Tall and thin, twenty-eight-year-old Bronwyn Palmer has become positively gaunt, a ghost of her former self. That self-was and still is the wife of a rich, handsome executive with an ocean-view house and his own security staff. It was in that house, two years ago, that Bryce Palmer learned Bronwyn was.…read more…
REVIEW: You know the times when all you really need is some angsty drama no matter how unrealistic it is, this is when you read this book. Though it is not that unrealistic, there are a few shortcomings which are easy to ignore. The angst level of the story will make you cry and take you on an emotional rollercoaster, which is all good as the end is totally satisfying. Overall, it is one of the must-reads second chance romance books, the list would be incomplete without it. I also highly recommend Unwanted Wife by the same author.
Drama• Big Twist • Misunderstanding • Tortured Hero
“And in the end, I had jumped. And the other side was just as glorious as her eyes had promised“

REVIEW: Mia Sheridan is my one of my top favorite authors and this one is her debut novel( Also, check out Archer’s Voice, BEST BEST BEST romance). The story of Leo & Evie is the sweetest and is told in flashbacks by both. You will experience their moments of hardships and joy as you read each page, it is simply all-consuming.
Tortured Hero • Secrets • Intense • Gut Wrenching
“He always was someone. Because the core of the sweet gum tree never changes. Like Nick, the deep red wood stays true to its nature. Strong, and steady, and pure.”

REVIEW: This book introduced me to second chance romance books. It is an absolutely amazing read which I never get tired of re-reading and recommending. The main characters will make you fall in love as their friendship grows and they go through the good and bad, you’ll feel all the feels. There are a few twists and family secrets that test Alix & Nick relationship, and the whole journey is told beautifully by the author. Trust me and just buy this book, you will regret if you don’t.
Heartfelt • Utterly Addictive • Loveable Characters • Moving
These books are just a few of the must read second chance romance books as there are hundreds more which have other strong sub-genres as well. Therefore, I urge you guys to give any of the books listed a try. I have linked them to Amazon so if you wish to purchase all you need to do is click on the book image or title.
By the way, Kara Sevda which is a top Turkish is based on this second chance romance theme, and I am mad about it, so people searching for a drama instead of a book should watch it. The lead actor will make you forget about all your book boyfriends.😉
